A few words about the Skeena cherry variety

Category : CHERRIES

Skeena is a self-fertile cherry variety that is harvested late in the season.

It comes from the Summerland research program in Canada. When grafted in the appropriate rootstock and after special pruning, the size of the fruit is very good.

Skeena is kidney-shaped, it has crisp flesh and very good firmness. The skin color is dark red to black.

As a tree, it has medium growth and open behavior. It is very resistant to cracking and its taste is very good with a high sugar content (Brix 16/17). The pit size is medium to small.

Because of the fact that it is a 100% self-fertile variety, Skeena has high yield even in difficult (in terms of unfavorable conditions in flowering) years. It quickly enters into production even in classical shaping systems (open-vase shape). In the late harvest season, Skeena is an unfailing choice for the producer.
