A few words about the Satin variety

Category : CHERRIES

Satin is a cherry variety that is harvested in the mid-early season. It originates from the Summerland (Canada) breeding program.

As a tree, Satin has erect behavior and medium vigor. It is not recommended to be grafted in very weak rootstocks such as Gizela-5.

In order to have lateral vegetation, you have to contact our nursery’s agronomists. Its blossoming is considered mid-early and despite the fact that it was a considered a self-fertile variety it seems that it is not. Production volume is very good and it can only be compared to that of self-fertile varieties. Its chilling-hour requirements are ranging from 400 to 500.

Satin’s fruit is large in size (28-30mm) and heart to kidney-shaped. Its skin color is bright-intense red.

Its flesh has a dark red color, very good firmness and is considered crisp. Its tase is balanced and sweet. Stem length is middle to long.

A very important characteristic of Satin is its high resistance to rain-cracking. Even in very bad weather with heavy rainfall, Satin retains high percentages of good quality fruit and in that way is a solution for the producer.
