A few words for the Lydia variety

Category : CHERRIES

Lydia is a random selection of Erli Lory variety with similar or higher quality characteristics.

As a tree, it has strong vigor and erect behavior. Lateral branching for this variety must be promoted with the use of girdling and the Promalin application. It is ready for harvest 3 days before  Burla. It blossoms early and the presence of pollinating varieties is essential for having good production. In high-density planting systems (1,5X4 on Gizela 6 or 3,5X4,5 on Maxma 14) its yield can reach 10-12 tonnes per hectare which is a little bit higher than Earli Bigi.

Lydia’s fruit size is big and very satisfying for the harvest season (28-29mm). When it is mature the skin color is dark red and also its flesh color is dark red. Its tase is average but satisfactory for that period.

Fruit firmness is medium. It is rather sensitive to rain cracking and covering the field with plastic cover is necessary. Stem length is small to medium. The price for the Lydia fruit in the market is always higher than Burla.
