A few words about the Soleta almond variety
Soleta is a new self-fertile variety of late blooming.
As a tree, it has moderate vigor and semi-erect behavior. It is recommended to be planted at shorter distances than traditional varieties (4.5×4.5 instead of 6×6). It also adapts very well to high-density planting systems grafted at the rootstocks that are made for that system. It blossoms 3 days before Guara, its flowers are white, medium-sized. It has a high density of flowers.
The fruit matures 25 days after Guara, has a hard shell and does not produce “double kernel”. The shape of the nut is elliptical and it has 31% to 37% nut to kernel ratio. The nut covers the entire cavity of the kernel.
The size of the nut is considered to be large, elliptical-elongated in shape and has very good commercial prospects.
The skin of the nut is easily peeled during processing and its taste is very good. It can be commercially used mainly for snacks (fresh consumption) but also by industry (processed for milk or other products).
