A few words about the Isabelona almond variety

Category : ALMONDS

Isabelona (Belona) is a self-fertile variety with late blooming and early harvest season.

It originates from the variety improvement program of the Spanish Institute CITA. As a tree, it has vigorous growth and open-canopy behavior. Training and pruning are quite easy. Its blooming is considered to be late (last 10 days of March in Greece) and is abundant.

Its production is large every year and shows little alternate bearing. Isabelona is resistant to diseases.

Its nut is of average size and weighs 1.3g. The shape is rounded-flat and the kernel to nut ratio ranges from 18% to 25%. It has no “double nuts” and its shell is hard.

Its taste is very good as its oil content. It is considered an ideal variety for use by pastry, chocolate, and processing industry.
