Santina, the queen of exports!
It originates from the breeding program of Suumerland, Canada and the editor of the variety in Europe is IPS, France.
Santina is harvested in the early – medium time of the cherry season (one week before Sabrina) and it has very good fruit quality.
It is a self – fertile variety with abundant flowering in the middle season.
Santina has high production every year. In trellis systems it can reach 15 – 20 tones per hectare. It’s fruit setting is normal and not very high leading to better fruit size.
Fruit size is big, 28/30 mm, even when the trees are full of them.
Fruit shape is kidney – shaped and the stem is medium length.
Santina’s cherry color is deep shiny red when it is fully matured and it’s taste is very good, subtle and sweet.
It has crunchy flesh and it can be stored in cold storage with excellent results making it the best fit for exports.
It is adequately resistant to rain cracking
