A few words about the Pricia apricot variety
CharacteristicsTree and Fruit characteristics
Pricia apricot is a super-early harvested self-fertile variety.
It originates from the varieties improvement program of the French company NEWCOT and is published in Europe by the French company IPS.
The tree has semi-open behavior and average growth. It mainly sets fruit in short and medium-sized branches.
It blooms in middle season and its flowering is rich. Production of Prisia is very large every year.
The fruit has a large size (AA / AAA) and is oval shaped. It has a red blush on 60% of the skin, especially in places where there is abundant solar radiation. The firmness of the flesh is very good. Flavor is good enough only if it is harvested at the right time.
Because of the early coloring of Prisia, there is a risk that it will be harvested prematurely and consequently it will not have an ideal taste. One more positive characteristic of this variety is that over the last six years tested in Greece, there have been no problems of sensitivity to PPV. It has no early blooming and is therefore ideal for areas with late frosts.
